Today the DA Shadow Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Adv Glynnis Breytenbach MP, laid criminal charges against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, Edward Zuma, Duduzane Zuma and EFF leader Julius Malema for incitement of violence.
In the period leading up to the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma, as well as after his imprisonment, his children on various occasions took to the press and social media to express comments which appear to encourage and incite the violence and looting that has destabilised KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng and which is spreading to other parts of the country.
For his part, Julius Malema threatened on Twitter to join the anarchy on the streets if the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is deployed and likened the deployment to a declaration of war against civilians instead of an attempt to maintain law and order.
The lack of action on the part of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) to act against those who use their platforms to incite violence, looting and anarchy are alarming.
The Zumas and Malema must be prosecuted without fear or favour.
