Dr Zakeera Docrat is currently a Postdoctoral research fellow under the auspices of the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS), at the University of the Western Cape.
Dr Docrat is a forensic and legal linguist, researcher and author.
Qualifications include a: BA; BA Hons (cum laude); LLB, MA (cum laude); PhD from Rhodes University.
Dr Docrat's recent book publication (2021) is: A handbook on Legal Languages and the quest for linguistic equality in South Africa and beyond.
She is the vice-chairperson of the Indigenous Languages Action Forum and an international advisory board member for the International Journal for the Semiotics of Law.
